[dropcap]I[/dropcap]t’s not breaking news that Bengals have very different personalities and characteristics from your average household feline. One of their most intriguing and most defiantly entertaining traits would be their capability to enjoy water. Unlike most other breeds, Bengals embrace water without fear or (much) hesitation.
Diego is a very adventurous little Bengal, having a fun filled day at the Graham’s Beach in New Zealand with his fur-family. He’s set and ready to go with a harness and leash, with his parents at his side for protection. He then takes his first tiny steps into the shallow waters along the shore. The conditions are perfect as there’s no wind and no waves. The water is warm and very still, it’s practically calling out to Diego, inviting the little kitty to come in and play. How could he resist?
The family’s reaction is priceless as they watch their Bengal kitten walk deeper into the water with such ease and self-confidence. They’re just overjoyed and amazed at how natural it is for him to take to the water and start to “kitty paddle”. They reassure him with positive words that he is safe and that they’re there for him, staying by his side just to make sure that if Diego would need some assistance, they can save him in a heartbeat.
This gives our little adventure seeker the assurance and security he needs to move around without any type of distress, but it’s very clear that this cat has everything under control. After a few short minutes, Diego paddles back to shore with no signs of fatigue or panic. The family is still in awe and amazement of their kitty’s first swim in the ocean. I’m certain that this is only the beginning of many adventures to come for Diego and his fur-family.
